AiSensy, Interakt, Wati and DoubleTick are well-known WhatsApp platforms. They are built on the official WhatsApp Business API and sold as monthly subscriptions. Whatsen is built on the same API but sold differently: you pay once and own it.
How these platforms charge

| Interakt | Subscription plans based on the number of active contacts | More active contacts, higher plans, message charges |
| Wati | Subscription plans priced in US dollars, with a user limit per plan | Higher plans, extra users, add-ons, message charges |
| DoubleTick | Positioned as a WhatsApp sales CRM, with plans on request or listed by tier | Higher tiers, usage, message charges |

What all monthly platforms have in common
- You pay a subscription for as long as you use the platform.
- Meta's per-message charges apply on top of the subscription. Some providers add their own markup, so ask for the rate card.
- Features such as AI replies, chatbots or extra users can sit in higher plans or be sold as add-ons.
- Your data and your setup live on the provider's systems.
How an owned platform differs
| Monthly platforms | Whatsen | |
|---|---|---|
| Platform fee | Recurring subscription | One-time payment, lifetime access |
| Updates | Part of the subscription | Lifetime free updates |
| Meta message charges | Through the platform, rates vary | Directly to Meta at Meta's rate, zero markup |
| Where it runs | Provider's servers | Your own server, in your own Meta account |
| AI agents, flows, automations | Depends on plan or add-on | All included |
| Setup | Usually self-serve | Done by our team, with 1 month of tech support |
Questions to ask any provider
- What is the total I pay each month with my number of agents and contacts?
- What is the per-message rate for marketing, utility and authentication messages, and how does it compare with Meta's rate?
- Which features are in my plan and which cost extra?
- Who owns the Meta account and the phone number?
- Can I take my number and my data with me if I leave?
- What happens to the price when my volume doubles?
Which should you choose?
A monthly platform is a reasonable choice for a short trial or very low volume. If you plan to use WhatsApp for years with a team, an owned platform removes the recurring platform fee.
